Volunteer

 

The Colorado Chapter of HIMSS is seeking volunteers to help with several of our exciting programs.  Please send a brief bio and a list of your top 3 volunteer choices to colorado.info@himsschapter.org and one of our BOD members will be in touch to discuss opportunities. We are currently seeking volunteers in the following areas. Please note that all volunteers are required to be active members of the Colorado Chapter of HIMSS for at least one year to apply.

 

  • Programming Committee - Please indicate if you would be interested in filling the role for both the Fall and Spring events, or for only one event.
    • Chair
      • Finalize Agenda of Event/ pamphlet with bios
      • Draft Agenda of Event
      • Program Management
      • Budget Finalization with Treasurer and Chair
      • Budget Estimate
      • Delegate registration
      • Occasionally present event details or represent committee during Chapter board meetings (less than once a month)
      • Speaker coordination
    • Marketing and Communication
      • Pre event – Raise awareness over social media and email; work with Collaboration Committee to reach larger audience
      • Post event – Send survey to attendees; write up summary of event and post a picture or two
      • Work with communications regarding what speakers are ok with posting
    • Sponsor Coordinator
      • Work with Sponsorship chair
      • Ensure sponsors questions are answered
      • Set sponsor expectations
      • Ensure sponsors expectations are documented and signed on
      • Ensure sponsors are recognized at event

  • Membership Committee
    • Event Coordinator
      • Create and manage event budget

      • Partner with Sponsorship team to engage chapter sponsors
      • Draft event invitations and reminders (Eventbrite, Constant Contact)
    • Membership Liaison
      • Engage with Organizational Affiliate (OA) leads to ensure membership lists is up to date
      • Gather feedback from OA members about chapter events
  • Informatics Committee
    • Chair – find & introduce speakers, facilitate meeting flow
    • Project Manager – help with meeting logistics, budget planning for informatics event
    • Communications/Marketing – for presentations/collateral development
  • Sponsorship Committee
    • Chair
      • Develop Program with Committee
      • Work with other Committees for cross pollination, e.g., Advocacy, Collaboration, Membership, Outreach
    • Marketing and Communication
      • Pre event – Raise awareness and Collaboration with Communications Committee to reach larger audience
      • Post event – review to make sure sponsors needs are met

  • Academic and Professional Development Committee
    • Chair
      • The Academic Chair will work with the Academic/Professional Development Chair to develop and implement student-focused programming, to increase student membership, and manage the Colorado Chapter of HIMSS’ scholarship program.
      • Professional Development Lead will work with the Academic/Professional Development Chair to develop and implement professional development opportunities including the CPHIMS and CAHIMS certification program and assist with managing CEU/CME/CNE opportunities for the Colorado Chapter of HIMSS.
      • Committee Members – these do not need to be specific to Academic or PD. Committee members will provide support to committee leads.
  • Advocacy Committee
    • Chair
      • Develop relationships with Colorado Congressional Members, State and local elected officials and staff
      • Help participate in monthly HIMSS roundtable conference calls (Chapter Advocacy Task Force), disseminate pertinent information to the Chapter Board and members on HIMSS issues, and improve communication within the Chapter around Advocacy issues. Help develop relationships with the staffs of state and local (trade) associations who might have similar policy / legislative priorities (e.g., hospital, medical, software, HFMA, etc.).
      • Organize visits to the State Capitol and other avenues of frequent communication with state and federal elected officials.
    • Advocacy Day and Webinars
      • Develop relationships with Colorado Congressional Members, State and local elected officials and staff
      • Coordinate Chapter Advocacy Day and Webinars
      • Facilitate recruiting speakers and Legislators to participate
      • Secure Advocacy Day location
      • Work with Chapter Program Chair on details of Advocacy Day - location, food, etc.
      • Work with Chapter Sponsorship Chair to procure sponsors for the events
      • Work with Chapter Communication Chair to market the upcoming activities
    • Legislator outreach
      • Develop relationships with Colorado Congressional Members, State and local elected officials and staff
      • Coordinate Legislative outreach communication through emails and social media
      • Review upcoming legislative bills related to Health IT
      • Coordinate HIMSS policy drives with state activities
  • Communications Committee
    • Social Media
      • Manage Linked-in and Twitter for the Chapter
    • Newsletter
      • Coordinate content for Seasonal Newsletter
    • Website & Mailings
      • Coordinate website updates
