Interoperability in Healthcare - SAVE THE DATE - February 17, 2022
In advance of our webinar in February we’ll be focused on interoperability in healthcare.
Interoperability is the ability of different information systems, devices, and applications (systems) to access, exchange, integrate and cooperatively use data in a coordinated manner, within and across organizational, regional, and national boundaries, to provide timely and seamless portability of information and optimize the health of individuals and populations globally.
Health data exchange architectures, application interfaces and standards enable data to be accessed and shared appropriately and securely across the complete spectrum of care, within all applicable settings and with relevant stakeholders, including the individual.
Want to better understand the basics of interoperability and health information exchange? Check out our HIMSS resource on healthcare interoperability!

Advocacy Webinar
Stephanie Benet as the State Health IT Coordinator reviewed the revamped and refreshed Colorado Health Information Technology (IT) Roadmap that was just approved by the Governor and Lt. Governor’s Offices in November 2021. The OeHI
- Guided over $50 million in health IT investments over the past 4 years in infrastructure, innovation, governance, and policy.
- Refocused efforts toward health equity, rural, and telehealth in FY20/21.
- Advances Polis-Primavera priorities for affordability, access, and equity.
Jim Woodard, BSN, MBA, RN, is the Chief Operating Officer at TRU Community. He is currently leading an initiative to leverage telecare technology to improve access for underserved elders enrolled in TRU programs. It is often assumed that elderly patients are unable to use technology. This has proven to be untrue, and patients are thriving when allowed to utilize telecare. Telecare provides for improved access to affordable, high-quality health services. Services provided include remote patient monitoring, patient education, provider visits, socialization, and specialized hospice care for patients in their last days of life. Jim explored the successes and barriers to making telecare available to seniors dealing with complex illnesses.
Combat Burnout & Improve your Coping Skills – HIMSS Colorado Virtual Event
This summer, Colorado HIMSS selected the Maria Droste Counseling Center to be our designated philanthropy for our annual Colorado HIMSS Golf Classic. Since our golf outing was delayed to the spring, we decided to honor and engage with support Maria Droste throughout the year as well. In early November, Maria Droste hosted a Donor Breakfast which included a tour of their newly renovated facility and stories of lives that have been and are able to be touched by their mental health services through support like ours! Stay tuned for other ways we intend to pull in membership to work with Maria Droste.
Webinar: On November 18, Colorado HIMSS partnered with Maria Droste Counseling Center staff members, Dr. Ryan Bittinger, PhD, and Dr. Esra Nutku-Bilir, MD, PhD, LPD, as they helped attendees define and identify burnout, put self-care practices into place, and experience a wonderful 15 minute mindfulness exercise. Did you miss the webinar? You can still listen to this presentation and participate in the mindfulness exercise by clicking here.
